Staff spotlight: meet Iszac Wayne

Senior Credit Advisor Iszac Wayne bought his first property at 19 and what started as a personal decision quickly turned into something more.

Navigating the purchase and taking on a renovation early on sparked a genuine interest in how property investing works and how people build wealth over time.

“Going through the process yourself changes the way you look at it,” he says.

“It gave me a good foundation.”

That firsthand experience shapes the way he works with clients. His role is built on trust, with conversations that often go well beyond numbers.

“You’re not just talking about finance. You’re talking about someone’s situation, their goals, what’s happening in the market. Sometimes you’ll spend more than an hour working through it all.”

While he deals with banks and lending every day, it’s not where he finds the most value. What he enjoys is guiding clients through a process that can feel complex and making sure they feel confident in their decision making.

“Lending is often necessary. It’s about helping people navigate something they have to do and making sure they are in the best position to make it work for them.”

Many clients already have a solid understanding of lending and budgeting, but first home buyers and newer investors often need more guidance.

“With those clients, it’s about slowing things down and making sure they understand each step before moving forward.”

That’s where emotional intelligence becomes critical.

“You need to be able to read the situation and adjust how you communicate,” he says.

Often, he works with couples who have different attitudes to finances and risk. One might be more bullish, the other more conservative, which can create tension.

“You’re not just dealing with finance, you’re managing a conversation between two people. Your job is to bridge that gap and help them make a decision they’re both comfortable with.”

Outside of work, Iszac keeps active and makes time to switch off. He enjoys staying fit, exploring new places and listening to podcasts on long walks. He spends weekends with his wife and has recently taken up padel. He also has a strong interest in combat sports, particularly Muay Thai and the UFC.

When he gets the chance, he returns to freediving and spearfishing, something he did regularly while living in Exmouth prior to becoming an investment advisor. At his best, he can dive to a depth of 30 metres on a single breath. It’s clear to everyone Iszac likes a challenge, and he doesn’t shy away from them.

In a short time, Iszac has already been recognised across the industry, with finalist positions in the Australian Broking Awards, Better Business Awards, and the MFAA Excellence Awards. He also received a Rising Star award with MPA.

For him, though, the focus stays on his clients.

“I think what sets me apart is the time I spend with people, making sure they understand everything and feel confident in their decisions.”

That approach is reflected in strong reviews and referrals, built on trust and consistent communication. For anyone looking to enter the industry, his advice is simple.

“You need to be prepared to put in the work early. Spend your working hours prospecting, and your time outside of business hours processing.”

It’s about building momentum, something that takes time and consistency.

“For me, it meant long days for a couple of years to get things moving. Once it starts, it gets easier, but getting there is the hard part.”

It’s a mindset that has shaped both his career and his own investment journey so far, and one that continues to drive him forward.
