Meet Luke Jones: a career built on relationships, not transactions

Luke Jones didn’t take the typical path into property. His career began in retail, grew through team leadership and events, and eventually led him to Momentum Wealth, where he now helps clients navigate one of the biggest financial decisions they’ll ever make.

Now a Property Acquisition Specialist at Momentum Wealth, Luke works closely with clients from day one, guiding them through the entire investment journey with a focus on education, strategy and long-term outcomes.

Luke moved quickly into leadership early in his career, managing retail teams of up to 20 people. That experience still shapes the way he works with both clients and colleagues today.

“I’ve always enjoyed seeing people grow,” he says. “Helping someone go from having no experience to becoming confident in what they do is something I’ve always found rewarding.”

Alongside retail, Luke also ran nightclub events, building networks in a fast-paced environment that gave him early exposure to sales, negotiation and relationship-building. Eventually, he made the decision to simplify his focus, stepping away from university and other commitments to put all his energy into building a career in sales.

His first step into real estate came through a traditional sales cadet role, but it didn’t take long to realise it wasn’t the right fit.

“I didn’t enjoy being tied to one area or approaching the same properties over and over. I wanted to understand the whole market,” he explains.

In project marketing and development, Luke gained experience across a wide range of Perth suburbs, price points and buyer types, from entry-level homes through to high-end properties.

“That experience gave me a much wider view of Perth as a whole. It wasn’t just one suburb, it was understanding how different areas work and who they suit.”

After several years in development and construction-focused roles, Luke was ready for a position that placed greater emphasis on long-term client outcomes.

“What stood out to me was the credibility of the [Momentum] business. The team had strong experience, a long tenure, and there was a clear focus on doing the right thing for clients.”

He was also drawn to Momentum Wealth’s integrated model, where investors can access finance, property acquisition and management support in the one place.

“It’s a complete offering for investors. It means we’re not just focused on one part of the process, we’re looking at the bigger picture.”

Luke works with clients from the very beginning, starting with education and clarity around goals, risks and opportunities. From there, he helps clients move from strategy and research through to property identification, assessing market data, agent relationships and opportunities that align with their long-term plan.

Once a property is selected, Luke manages negotiations, due diligence and coordinates with internal teams to assess rental performance and future value.

“It’s about protecting the client at every stage and making sure the property genuinely fits their strategy,” he says.

That support continues through to settlement, including inspections, reporting and final checks to ensure everything is delivered as expected.

While the technical side of the role is key, Luke believes relationships are what truly drive good outcomes.

“I enjoy working with all types of clients. Whether someone is analytical or more relationship-focused, it comes back to building trust and helping them make good decisions.”

Outside of work, football helps Luke switch off and maintain balance. A highlight was representing Western Australia in an amateur state team, travelling to Malaysia to compete against professional level clubs and the state team. Travel more broadly is something he values, regularly taking time to recharge and experience new environments.

Luke has also built his own investment portfolio, applying the same principles he shares with clients. Starting with a development opportunity early in his career, he has since expanded into longer-term residential investments and developments.

“I’ve always believed in taking a strategic approach and building from one step to the next.”

Looking ahead, his focus remains simple.

“As long as I’m continuing to grow, I know I’m in the right place. This is a business that supports that.”
